Sawtuha Network issues its second report on social and cultural problems facing Iraqi women

Within the Women’s Fund for Peace and Humanitarian Action project; (Sawtuha for Women Human Rights Defenders) Network, in cooperation with the United Nations Women in Iraq, issued its second report on the social and cultural problem and its impact on Iraqi women.

In the first phase of the project, multiple Focus groups were distributed across ten Iraqi governorates (Baghdad – Al-Diwaniyah – Babil – Salah al-Din – Najaf – Nineveh – Basra – Anbar – Diyala – Kirkuk), to obtain an accurate diagnosis of problems and challenge.

that were implemented by the network coordination in those governorates, to obtain information and statistics about what Iraqi women suffer, as a number of women were interviewed according to samples of no less than (20 women) and distributed to (30) working groups so that the total number of participants (600) women, from different Community layers.

The meetings resulted in identifying the main problems that women face and researching their causes and how to treat them. The problems that the feminist groups have worked on are social, cultural and economic problems.
