Dr. Nibras Al-Mamory, head of the Iraqi Women Journalists Forum, participated in the dialogue session organized by the Public Opinion Management Alliance on Sunday, July 19, 2020, regarding Al-Kazemi’s visit to Saudi Arabia and Iran. The session was moderated by the journalist and researcher on political affairs, Atheer Kakan, with the participation of a number of political, academic and media figures, in addition to a number of representatives of civil society organizations and demonstrators.

The session included several axes in an attempt to explore the regional round of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and what Iraq should do in the current stage on how to manage the political file by the two countries (Saudi Arabia and Iran) towards Iraq and restore the regional balance according to the available opportunities.

The session concluded with a set of outputs that included the possibility of creating a balance in the relations between Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Iran by providing the appropriate conditions externally and internally with respect to Iraq. This is achieved through the reactivation of the state of institutions, law enforcement, and the agreement of the internal parties to adopt a balanced foreign policy strategy that guarantees regional interests in the region while preserving Iraqi sovereignty.

The participants agreed that there is an opportunity for Iraq to ensure the arrangement of Iraqi-Iranian relations, in addition to renewed relations with the Arab Gulf states, in order to create a regional balance in favor of Iraq and the region.

As for the Saudi-Iranian conflict, it could be an important card for Prime Minister Al-Kazemi because he has strategic relations with the Americans that enable him to play an important role in alleviating the regional conflict. The participants also agreed that there is an opportunity to change the view of some Shiite parties that have doubts about Saudi intentions, two members of the session cited the cases of Qatar and Syria as examples of this possible change.

It is mentioned that the Iraqi Women Media Forum is one of the founding organizations of the Public Opinion Alliance.
