IWJF: Baghdad
Within the Makanati project, the Iraqi Women Journalists Forum organized in Baghdad, for the period 7-9 October, the first training workshop for a group of media researchers on how to prepare a public policy paper to combat violence against female journalists.
The workshop was opened by the head of the forum, Dr. Nibras Al-Mamory, by introducing the project and the upcoming work mechanisms and the goal of involving specialists in the media research and strategic planning aspect, in addition to the activities that will be organized later within the project.
Dr. Anas Al-Azzawi, a member of the Human Rights Commission, also participated in the opening of the workshop, indicating the importance of public policy papers in adopting human rights and media issues, thanking the efforts of the Women Journalists Forum and the sponsoring body in this regard.
The workshop, in which Dr. Uday Al-Manawi trained over a period of three days, included a definition of what public policies are, their elements, and how to employ them to adopt media issues, especially those related to gender, in addition to practical training. The participants were divided into two groups, each group adopted a theme related to media women, whose summary was reviewed at the conclusion of the workshop.
