The Iraqi Media Forum held a seminar on Monday, 6 May 2019, at Al-Aswar Secondary School for Girls in Baghdad, on gender, participation, equality and international resolutions guaranteeing this right, with the participation of a group of female students and teaching staff.
The seminar, which was attended by the Head of the Forum, Dr. Nibras Al Mamory, included dialogue and discussion on the concept of gender, the role of women in participation and peacemaking, and the tools to be achieved in order to promote participation such as will, power, learning and determination to work, as well as international resolutions guaranteeing participation.
Making use of women’s empowerment and enhancing their participation at the family and community levels
The students were asked to ask their own questions and experiences and the obstacles that hindered the achievement of their ambitions and mechanisms of teamwork. At the end of the seminar, it was agreed to hold a training workshop for female students in this regard under the auspices of the UN Office for Women in Iraq
Al-Aswar Girls’ High School participated in the International Schools Award program sponsored by the British Council to create a global citizen who is familiar with developments and transformations in the world
